About Me

Cllr Michael Hoy
I am a father of two children, both of whom currently go to Sweyne-Park School in Rayleigh having previously attended Riverside School in Hullbridge, and am married to Diane.
I have lived in Hullbridge since 2001 (my wife has lived here since she was 10) whilst my dads family lived in Hockley from the 1940’s until a few years ago and I care passionately about both villages deploring changes which get made without any thought to the community.
I was a Hullbridge Parish Councillor for a number of years and on 6 May 2010 was voted in as District Councillor for Hullbridge on Rochford District Council, as a member of the Green Party.  In 2013 I was elected to Essex County Council for Rochford West, but lost that seat to the Conservatives on 4 May 2017.
In 2014 I became the Deputy Leader of the Green & Rochford District Residents Group at Rochford Council where we currently form the main opposition group to the Conservative Administration, numbering 9 Councillors.
I like to believe I am involved in what goes on but have to concede there are people and groups that I do not know and who do not know me, however I do take part in village activities from the Village Fairs & Christmas Lights to the Up River Regatta.
If you believe I should come to your event or visit your group please let me know, my contact details are below.
