Pickles Losses Court Case on Housing Numbers

Eric Pickles lost a Court case this week which meant his decision to allow Local Authorities to choose their own housing targets rather than those imposed by the Regional bodies has been reversed.  Effectively this means that the Regional Housing Target for Rochford has been reinstated.

However as can be seen here the Government is enacting legislation to make the abolition of the Regional Housing numbers legal and in the meantime is still telling Local Authorities to have regard to the original statement on the abolition of those targets by Eric Pickles MP.

What does this mean for Hullbridge?  Well as Rochford chose not to change the overall housing numbers very little probably, it does add uncertainty to the Core Strategy and it does seem unwise to continue proceeding with it whilst so much is still unknown.
