Rochford Housing Association

Last night’s Parish Council meeting had a presentation by Sara Brind of Rochford Housing Association on provision of affordable housing and how the Association could carry out a housing needs survey for Hullbridge.  The Association took over Rochford Councils housing stock and now owns and looks after 1,750 homes in the District.

The Housing Association can carry out a Housing Needs Survey for Hullbridge and then, in co-operation with the Parish council, purchase land on which these houses can be built.  They would look to develop no more than 3-4 houses at a time on each site, however they are unable to pay the full market value for sites so have to look at land where developers wouldn’t normally go, an example given was a garage site.

The Parish Council is going to discuss this more fully at its meeting in November, so if you wish to add your view please come along.
