Half term Holidays – Things to do

Rochford Council has put together its usual list of Half term Activities for toddlers though to 16 year olds.  These events take place at various venues throughout the district mainly at the two leisure centres (Clements Hall & Rayleigh Leisure Centre), but also including

Great Wakering Primary School
Shopland Hall Equestrian Centre
Hockley Primary Academy
Ashingdon Primary Academy
Lords Golf Club

The activities on offer range from a Grease workshop at the Mushroom Theatre Company on Lubbards farm, fencing at Great Wakering, storytelling and all  the usual sports at the leisure centres.  There is even a coach trip to London where you are free to explore Covent Garden or the Museums before getting the coach back (£5 each).  The full list of activities with their costs can be found here.

Waste Collection in Rochford District

Waste collection has resumed today, for dry waste only.  Green Waste will not be collected until next week as it is believed the cold weather will stop it from decaying.

In case you thought the staff sat back with a day off yesterday they didn’t, instead they helped clear paths and areas around the sheltered housing complex’s within the district.

No water in Hullbridge

It seems that most households in Hullbridge woke up this morning to find they had no water.

We have spoken to Essex Water about the burst pipe which is affecting Hullbridge and it is the one in South Woodham, a main trunk supply. Essex & Suffolk are currently putting a divert in which will give Hullbridge some water (enough for a cup of tea, flush the toilet etc but not enough for a bath). They are expecting a full service to be back by this evening.

The burst pipe has caused Riverside Primary School to close and on looking in the local shops bottled water has sold out.

Water for Hullbridge comes under the River Crouch from South Woodham, you can see the entrance to the tunnel carrying the pipe next to the slipway, a large round manhole cover (which is locked).

UPDATE – 10.31am
Just had a phone call from Essex & Suffolk Water confirming the divert has been put in, mine now appears to be back running.
